Welcome | "You've Got Mail" - Sermon Series Feb 14- Mar 28 Remember AOL? Begun in the 1980s, America Online introduced many of us to email. A message’s arrival would be announced by a pleasing voice saying, “You’ve got mail!” To the uninitiated, it seemed both shocking and comforting – through the mysterious vapors of the internet, a message has come for me!
Long before AOL, seven fledgling communities received (through the new technology of the Roman mail routes) letters delivered by the apostle John but dictated by Jesus himself. In the first three chapters of the book of Revelation, Jesus sends letters to congregations in seven cities in Asia (now modern-day Turkey). In these letters, problems, priorities, leadership, morality, and ministry opportunities are addressed. Each letter is shocking in its criticism and comforting in its encouragement.
Join us for eight weeks, beginning on February 14, as we consider these letters and their wisdom for how we (and the community we have) should live in uncertain times.
